Round Rock drivers may find their commute on Gattis School Road has shifted as the city moves forward with a new piece of the project to widen the roadway.

What you need to know

City crews began work on widening part of Gattis School Road Aug. 28, soon after receiving notice to proceed with the project.

Sara Bustilloz, Round Rock's communications and marketing director, confirmed via email that crews received the notice to begin widening the piece of Gattis School Road between Windy Park Drive and Cedar Ridge High School Aug. 26. As the project progresses, ongoing changes to the road's traffic pattern are expected.

About the project

Bustilloz said the project is estimated to take about two years to complete.

Once finished, Gattis School Road will be a six-lane divided road, with this section including right and left turn bays at A.W. Grimes Boulevard and Double Creek Drive, as well as a raised center median with openings at Joyce Lane and South Creek Drive, per the city.
