The project team working on the city of Round Rock's
transportation master plan update released some preliminary recommendations for safety improvements throughout the city as a whole with the conclusion of the planning process expected by the end of the summer.
As part of the update process, the Kimley-Horn-led project team has recommended safety improvements for the following roadways:
- A.W. Grimes Boulevard from E. Palm Valley to Plateau Vista Boulevard
- A.W. Grimes Boulevard from Tiger Trail to Timberline Drive
- Gattis School Road from South Mays Street to Surry Drive
- North Mays Street from Anderson Avenue to Bagdad Avenue
- Round Rock Avenue from I-35 North to North Brown Street
- The interchange of La Frontera Boulevard and SH 45 N
- The intersection of Sunrise Road and Old Settlers Boulevard
- The intersection of Creek Bend Boulevard and Old Settlers Boulevard
- The intersection of Georgetown Street and Hwy. 79
City officials also
approved a corridor study in conjunction with the transportation plan update. Draft recommendations for the Sam Bass Road and McNeil Road corridors addressing congestion and traffic safety include adding traffic signals, roundabouts, turn lanes and crosswalks.
