​The Round Rock Police Department has announced the closure of several streets as inclement weather and ice accumulation pose a risk to drivers as of 10:45 a.m. Jan. 31:
  • All flyovers between I-35 and SH 45
  • SH 45 westbound exit for Greenlawn Boulevard
  • SH 45 eastbound exit for La Frontera
  • Northbound I-35 exit for RM 620
  • Eastbound RM 620 at Chisholm Trail Road
The National Weather Service placed several Central Texas counties, including Williamson County, under a severe winter storm warning around 1 p.m. Jan. 30 that is in effect until 6 a.m. Feb. 2. The warning predicts ice accumulation up to three-quarters of an inch may be possible in the Hill Country and Austin metro area with possible power outages and hazardous travel. Those who must travel while this warning is in place are encouraged to bring flashlights, food and water in case of an emergency. Nonemergency travel is discouraged, according to the warning.
