The Triple-A Championship Season has been delayed by four weeks, setting Round Rock Express’ new tentative opening day at May 6, according to a news release.

The delay is designed to increase the likelihood of Minor League baseball players to be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred said in the release.

Round Rock’s tentative opening day will be at Dell Diamond against the Oklahoma City Dodgers, according to the release.

The Express will play a total of 120 games, 60 at Dell Diamond and 60 away, a decrease from the previously announced 142-game schedule. The team will add a pair of home games against the Albuquerque Isotopes during the previously scheduled All-Star Break on July 12 and 13 to ensure all 30 Triple-A clubs play an even number of games.
