Front Porch Frozen Desserts permanently closed the doors of its 3107 S. I-35, Ste. 770, Round Rock, storefront on Sept. 26. The ice cream and gelato shop first opened on Feb. 12, 2013, according to a Sept. 21 Facebook post on the business' page announcing the closure.
"After [eight-and-a-half] years, Front Porch has closed," a note posted to the door of the shop read. "Forever. We love you all—thanks for everything! Love, the FPFD family. P.S., get your COVID[-19] vaccine."
While open for those eight years, Front Porch was owned and operated by the Hoxmeier family. In a letter to the shop's customers posted on the business's website, manager Daniel Hoxmeier wrote that the family and business had been experiencing difficulties since March 2020, both with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and a cancer diagnosis in the family.
