Round Rock City Council approved a contract for engineering services for an improvement project at the Round Rock Recycling Center in May.

Overview

Phase 1 of the Recycle Center Master Plan includes relocating the existing brush recycling area to the western portion of the property, as well as increasing access to the site from Deepwood Drive to allow smoother traffic flow and shorter wait times.

The city will also create additional stormwater controls on the property, and pour concrete around the unloading area.

City Council approved a contract with Parkhill, an architecture firm based out of Austin, for $249,500 for the design of Phase 1. Parkhill created the master plan for the center about a year ago.

“If you go out there now, most of the buildings are just kind of piecemeal. We built them ourselves, so we needed to up our game a little bit,” Public Works Executive Director Michael Thane said.

Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the master plan includes adding two drive aisles for residents to dump various products, creating a space dedicated to household hazardous waste and building a small office.
