The details
The contract would give the city access to the cleanup services on an as-needed basis, as well as access to on-site planning 24-36 hours before an anticipated event. Cleanup services include debris management, emergency road clearance, land clearing, and recycling and disposal.
"For anticipated events like winter storms, this could be very helpful to us," Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation David Buzzell said at a Jan. 7 agenda packet briefing.
The five-year agreement provides services for events that the Federal Emergency Management Agency does not respond to, and is not to exceed $10 million.
What they're saying
"One of the reasons we were successful in our response to the 2023 winter storm was because we were one of the first cities, if not the first city, to initiate our cleanup process," Buzzell said. "This agreement actually takes it one step further and we can have an advanced pre-event preparation."
