The city of Round Rock will be hosting a free bulk trash pickup beginning this week for Round Rock residents.

What residents need to know

All bulk items need to be placed on the curb by 7 a.m. on the appropriate spring cleanup day.

The following items will be accepted for pickup:
  • Nonfreon appliances
  • Furniture
  • Scrap metal
  • Lumber
  • Mattresses
Nonfreon appliances can be placed on curbside during the spring cleaning pickup; however, they will not be recycled. Those wishing to recycle these items can do so at the city’s recycling center during normal business hours.

Nonfreon appliances include items such as washers, dryers, stoves, dishwashers and hot water heaters.

Bulk items not accepted for curbside pickup are:
  • Freon appliances
  • Automotive products
  • Brush or tree limbs
  • Chemicals
  • Demolition and construction debris
  • Paint
  • Tires
  • TVs
Many of these items are accepted at the city’s recycling center, the brush recycling center or through household waste collection events. Find electronic recycling options here.

A quick note

A city news release stressed any appliance that at one time contained freon—such as refrigerators, freezers or air conditioning units—will not not be accepted during the city’s spring cleaning curbside pickup. Residents needing to have freon appliance removal can call Appliance Collector, 512-650-0528, according to the release.

Because of the anticipated volume of materials, some items may be missed during collection on the designated day. The city encourages residents to call Central Texas Refuse at 512-255-4980 should this occur.
