The Round Rock Public Library will close Dec. 23 to facilitate the relocation of reading materials and other library items to the city's newest facility.

That means Dec. 22 is the last day the library will be open until the new facility located at 200 E. Liberty Ave. opens Jan. 28.

Library customers with items checked out will note that their due dates have been extended until after the library has reopened, Michelle Cervantes told Community Impact. Patrons are still able to return items early using the outside return slots.

Library materials will still be able to be checked out digitally, but physical materials will be unavailable during this time, according to the city.

Additionally, Round Rock residents who have library cards may apply for a TexShare library card at the RRPL service desk, which will allow them to borrow materials from other libraries.

A grand opening of the new library will be held Jan. 28 2-6 p.m. with come-and-go activities, Cervantes said. Additional information about the library's closure and reopening is available at www.roundrocktexas.gov.
