The Brushy Creek Recycling Center in Round Rock will be holding its last Christmas tree recycling event 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Jan. 6.

The setup

Located at 310 Deepwood Drive, the recycling center will repurpose the holiday timber by shredding the trees into small, usable mulch.

The mulch is then made available for free to Round Rock residents and for a small fee to contractors and non-residents—$5 per cubic yard—with pickup at the recycling center.

Tree saplings will be distributed to those participating in the recycling event.

Christmas trees must be devoid of all decorations, nails, wires, ornaments, tree stands, lights and tinsel before being brought to the recycling center.

One more thing

Brushy Creek Recycling Center also provides residential curbside pick up upon request. The service charge fee begins at $25, with the size of the load and time to complete the pickup determining the remaining cost.

Service requests can be made online or by calling the Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department.
