With the majority of Round Rock precincts having submitted unofficial election results, Montgomery secured Place 6 on Round Rock City Council over Rouf.

According to the unofficial results, Montgomery won with a 82.56% majority, or 1,922 votes. Rouf received 17.44% of the vote with 406 votes.

“Tonight, the people of Round Rock chose progress, integrity, and community. I’m honored and humbled to continue serving as your City Council member. This victory belongs to every neighbor who knocked on a door, made a call, or believed in the power of local leadership to make everyday life better,” Montgomery said in a statement. “I'm grateful to have had the support of my colleagues at city hall, especially Mayor Craig Morgan, for their support all the way across the finish line. I can’t wait to get back to work for the people of Round Rock."

Early election results for the Round Rock City Council Place 6 election show incumbent Hilda Montgomery in the lead against challenger Emran Rouf. Rene Flores ran unopposed for the Place 2 seat.

The breakdown

Montgomery received 1,249 early votes, or 83.16%, of ballots cast in early voting, according to early voting results from Williamson and Travis counties. Rouf received 252, or 16.84%, of ballots cast.

About the candidates


Montgomery has served on the City Council for the last 7 years. Her priorities include keeping tax rates low and maintaining resident safety, according to an election Q&A with Community Impact.

Rouf is a physician and community organizer. He ran for council to help plan for sustainable growth, according to the Q&A.

Some context

In early voting, 8,955 ballots were cast in Williamson County, 3.19% of the county's 280,561 eligible voters in the May 3 election. A portion of Round Rock residents reside in Travis County, where 12,713 voters cast votes early, 6.09% of the 208,596 registered voters.


Polls closed at 7 p.m., but voters who were in line at 7 p.m. are still able to cast ballots.
