Round Rock ISD is making headway on several 2024 bond projects, with several entering stages of procurement and design, per a recent district report.
Current situation
Major and minor construction projects, turf field replacements, track resurfacing and technology replacements are underway in RRISD, as the district gets moving on bond projects funded through three 2024 ballot initiatives. Administrators provided an update on these projects in an Aug. 21 board meeting.

Round Rock ISD turns shortfall into surplus for 2025-26 with new school funding legislation
An amendment to the budget for the 2025-26 financial year has turned Round Rock ISD's $11 million projected shortfall into a $2.9 million surplus, administrators said.
The change is due to additional budget cuts identified since June, Chief Financial Officer Dennis Covington said, as well as clarity on how to implement additional funding provided through House Bill 2.
What you need to know
The RRISD board of trustees passed an amendment to the 2025-26 budget Aug. 21, which was originally adopted in June.
At the time, administrators said they were instructed by the Texas Education Agency to pass a budget without information about how HB 2 would be implemented.

Round Rock ISD trustees update library materials policy amid new legislative requirements
Round Rock ISD officials approved updates to a policy guiding how the district purchases library materials, what qualifies as such, as well as how and who might challenge these materials as the district contends with new laws following the 89th legislative session.

Updates to policy EFB Local, which guides the district's acquisition of library materials, were approved Aug. 14 in a specially called board meeting.
