Round Rock ISD received a “B” for the 2024-2025 school year, with 87 out of a possible 100 points, in the Texas Education Agency’s school accountability ratings.

Overview

The ratings were released Aug. 15, after the 15th Court of Appeals overturned a Travis County district court’s injunction of the scores’ release. The TEA also released ratings for the 2023-24 school year, for which RRISD also received a “B.”

This marks three school years in a row for RRISD to receive a “B” in the accountability ratings, after the TEA released its 2022-2023 figures in April.

The A-F rating system was created by the 85th Texas Legislature to provide clear and consistent performance tracking data for public schools and ensure students are prepared for the next grade level. Per the TEA, the focus areas of student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps were intended to drive continuous improvement in public schools.

Statewide, 24% of school districts and 31% of campuses improved their letter grade compared to 2023-24, according to the TEA. Most campuses maintained their previous rating, and 15% saw a decline. Of the high-poverty campuses in Texas, 43% were rated an "A" or "B."

Breaking it down

TEA’s overall rating, for which RRISD received its 87 out of 100 points, measures how much students are learning in each grade and whether or not they are ready for the next grade. It also shows how well a district prepares its students for success after high school.
The district’s four-year graduation rate dipped slightly, from 97.2% in 2023-24 to 96.6% in 2024-25, while statewide average rate was 90.7%.

In student achievement, 65% of all RRISD students met their grade level or above across all subjects—including reading, math, science and social studies—in the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, exams. The state average was 50% for the 2024-25 school year. Meanwhile, 38% of RRISD students mastered their grade level, compared to the state’s 21%.
