Maritza Gallaga, associate director of communications and community relations, said Round Rock ISD is examining an expansion of the district’s open enrollment program to more campuses based on occupancy and enrollment levels.

RRISD officials have said higher enrollment can help boost state funding to school districts.

The board has not yet specified when discussions on open enrollment may continue.

Student achievement data aids accountability updates

District administration delivered a midyear update of student achievement indicators in anticipation of updates to district accountability reporting expected from the Texas Education Agency in 2023.

The Dec. 13 update came from RRISD Chief of Instruction Ryan Smith, who said that to achieve the highest rating from the TEA, the district will have to hit the 88% mark for students achieving college, career and military readiness.

Smith said the district is working with Austin Community College to create courses for students who have not achieved any of the measures before graduation.
