Cuellar was previously a vice principal at Westwood High School, where she began her time with the district, according to its hiring announcement. At Westwood, Cuellar established the campus’s equity team in order to create a “welcoming and accepting environment for all students” and used community feedback to help develop campus improvement initiatives.
Like RRISD’s pick for Success High School Principal Jerrod Gertsema, Cuellar is a graduate of the district’s Team One Program, which gives aspiring principals personal development opportunities.
“I am so excited, honored, and humbled to serve the Blackland Prairie Community,” Cuellar said in the hiring announcement. “Together, we are going to ensure our students and staff continue to grow as world-class leaders while fostering relationships, focusing on social-emotional needs, and mastery learning.”
Cuellar has 15 years of experience in education and earned her Bachelor’s in Child and Family Studies as well as a Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Permian Basin.
