The traditional ceremony option will take place in the morning with students gathered on the football field for speeches and honorary recognition prior to receiving their diploma, per a March 23 RRISD release. Families and guests will be seated in the stands and will not be allowed on the field for the traditional ceremony.
Early College and Success high schools will each host traditional ceremonies, the release confirmed.
An alternative ceremony—a commencement walk—will be held in the evening. All events will be held at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex, located at 10211 W. Parmer Lane, Austin.
High school campuses will send out a choice survey for seniors to select the graduation experience in which they will participate. Seniors may only choose one of the two options, per the release.
Seniors may bring up to 10 guests to the traditional ceremony or the commencement walk, per the release. Any delays or rescheduled dates will be posted on the district's Facebook and Twitter pages, if necessary. Rescheduled events will take place at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex May 30-31, if necessary.
