Round Rock City Council approved May 23 the annexation and rezoning of a 2.5 acre parcel near the intersection of Red Bud Lane and Doris Lane, with the potential for a new townhome development.

In a nutshell

Townhomes are a “missing middle” type of dwelling in the area that provide alternatives to single family homes and multifamily developments, according to Director of Planning and Development Bradley Dushkin.

Dushkin told council a neighboring resident raised concerns that the development would increase traffic in the area; however, city documents indicate there are road improvements planned for the Doris Lane and Red Bud Lane intersection—outlined in the city’s capital improvement projects. Plans also include widening Doris Lane to a three-lane roadway.

A similar development—a three-story senior living community—lies directly across from the property.

At time of press, owners of the property were not able to give specifics of the project. The land is currently home to the DCAP Construction LLC.
