Round Rock fishing enthusiasts will soon have a new spot to enjoy their hobby on Meadow Lake.

City officials approved a construction contract May 25 for the first dock to be built on what Rick Atkins, Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department director, said is one of the larger in the city.

The $299,910 project will be paid through the city's parks improvement and acquisition fund, and the dock will be built by AgH2O Holdings. It will be a hinged dock, allowing it to be raised and lowered with changing water levels at Meadow Lake Park. The covered structure will have a fishing well in the middle with a platform area outside of the shaded canopy and a canoe launch platform.

To support ongoing fishing activity, city officials also approved an interlocal agreement with the Upper Brushy Creek Water Control and Improvement District for the procurement of a solar power option for its bubbler to oxygenate the water at Meadow Lake while the district makes some repairs to its dam.
