Round Rock residents are now encouraged to follow Stage 1 water restrictions on a voluntary basis year-round with shifted watering times after officials made adjustments to the city's drought contingency plan.

The updates approved April 27 include the changing of scheduled watering times to midnight-10 a.m. and 7 p.m.-midnight on designated days when restrictions are imposed. The plan also includes language that encourages residents to observe voluntary Stage 1 restrictions at all times and limit watering to twice per week, regardless of rainfall level, to conserve water sources. Additional information about the changes is available here.

Another component of the drought contingency plan, which dictates the days residents can water their lawn based on their address number, remains unchanged:

Residents with addresses ending in 4 or 8 may water their lawns on Sundays and Thursdays.
  • Addresses ending in 0 or 3 may water on Mondays and Thursdays.
  • Addresses ending in 2, 6 or 7 may water on Tuesdays and Fridays
  • Addresses ending in 1, 5 or 9 may water on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
