Filings for the May 6 Round Rock City Council election show competition for places 1 and 4, but not for the mayoral race.

The filing window for the council election closed Feb. 17 at 5 p.m. with incumbents Michelle Ly and Frank Ortega having submitted packets for places 1 and 4, respectively. Greg Rabaey and Shannon Probe filed applications for places 4 and 1, respectively, by the Feb.17 deadline to solidify the only contested races on the ballot.

Ly was elected to Place 1 and Ortega to Place 4 in November 2020, according to city officials.

Round Rock Mayor Craig Morgan was the only person to file for a place on the ballot in the city's mayoral race, which means he will run uncontested.

The last day to declare write-in candidacy is Feb. 21, before 5 p.m., according to city officials.

Round Rock City Council members serve staggered three-year terms, and all council seats are at-large positions.
