With a sweet aroma from a Sweet Grace candle and country music, Tammy Kay’s Boutique creates an inclusive shopping atmosphere for Round Rock community members.

The background

Owner Tammy Munguia originally operated the space as a cheer gym before opening the boutique on Sept. 6, 2014, as ATC Boutique-Pretty in Pink.

The store offers clothing, home goods, gifts and shoes. While the boutique started with customers from Munguia’s cheer gym, she said nowadays shoppers include everyone from ages 20 to 80 years old.

“Our clientele has expanded,” Munguia said. “We don’t only have the high school and college girls, we have their parents coming in as well.”

One product section highlighted in the store is the plus-size clothing section. These options are popular with many customers, Munguia said.

“I think that’s why we have so many people come here and tell their friends, because we have the largest plus-size section in town by far,” Munguia said.

What’s special about it?

Munguia said a unique aspect of the boutique is the intimate connections created between shoppers and staff.

The business also builds the community atmosphere by giving a percentage of its proceeds to local organizations, including football groups and cheerleading groups.

Marking a milestone

After several years of being recognized in the top three boutiques, the store was awarded the title of Best Boutique in the Best of Round Rock 2024 awards.

“It was so exciting because I’ve worked so hard for so many years and it’s voted on by the people of Round Rock, and they had more votes, I think, this year than ever,” Munguia said. “I literally cried when I found out because I couldn’t believe it.”
