Word of the rebranding came via a Feb. 1 news release and included a lineup of big-name musical acts scheduled to start playing April 8.
A representative for Round Rock Amp confirmed Feb. 1 that Nutty Brown Amphitheatre, which was previously expected to open at the former McNeil Park in Round Rock under the same name, will cease to exist. The original Nutty Brown property off of Hwy. 290 West in Southwest Austin is set to become an H-E-B with plans to break ground as early as March.
Farr's efforts to relocate Nutty Brown to Round Rock were delayed several times for various reasons in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
Through an economic development agreement with the city of Round Rock, the city will waive up to $30,000 in development fees and reimburse a percentage of property taxes over five years. In return, the venue owners will invest $10 million into the project and employ 40 staff members
Farr purchased the property from the city in 2018, when the relocation process began.
City Council rezoned the land to a planned unit development to allow the mixed use of Nutty Brown as a music venue, restaurant and bar.
