Round Rock ISD board members elected a new slate of officers during their Dec. 16 meeting.

Ahead of the board's election, board President Amy Weir addressed the board, outlining the characteristics she felt would be needed of the board's future president.

"I think the president should try to find common ground whenever possible, because that is where what is best for the district as a whole [is]," Weir said. "While disagreements about policy will occur, the board president cannot allow board members to choose to ignore the law or decisions [of] the board this board."

Following the board's election, the new slate of officers is as follows: President Amber Feller, Vice President Tiffanie Harrison and Weir as secretary.

Feller, upon returning to open session from a recess after the board selected its new officers, said she will be encouraging a "growth mindset" on the board moving forward.

"I know there's a lot of people that are disappointed with Round Rock ISD this year," Feller said. "I will tell you, starting now, I vow from this moment forward, I will work together as much as possible."
