Round Rock ISD has called a public hearing for its 2021 Texas Academic Performance Report during the Jan. 20 meeting of the board of trustees.

This report is compiled by the Texas Education Agency, and includes State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness results by grade, military readiness, dropout and attendance rates, and college and career readiness, among other indicators, according to the district.

Results from this report will be presented to the public by the district at 5:30 p.m. in the old lecture hall of Round Rock High School at 300 Lake Creek Drive, Round Rock. The reports are currently available on the TEA website and on the district's own performance indicators page.

These reports show that for the 2020-21 school year, STAAR participation fell from 100% to 70% between 2019 and 2021. Tests were not administered in 2020. RRISD officials have previously told Community Impact Newspaper that participation had greatly decreased, although it was unclear at the time by just how much. This impact was attributed largely to COVID-19 changes in testing procedures that made some of the exams optional.

Additional updates regarding other indicators are forthcoming.
