Construction along FM 685 near the entrance of Typhoon Texas in Pflugerville is anticipated to complete in late June, Pflugerville Community Development Corp. Executive Director Amy Madison confirmed June 17. The project kicked off Feb. 14 following Pflugerville City Council's award of a nearly $1 million contract to Cox Construction for the work.

The scope of the project includes relocating the park's entrance north to align with Town Center Drive, per PCDC and city documents. The project includes new signalization, deceleration lanes and sidewalks along FM 685.

Typhoon Texas CFO Ray DeLaughter confirmed June 17 that the water park's portion of the project has been completed, with the exception of signage and parking lot striping. Those remaining improvements are anticipated to be completed the week of June 21, DeLaughter added.

DeLaughter said that while attendance is lower due to the coronavirus pandemic and capacity restrictions, the water park's operations are running as smoothly as possible.

“We are very comfortable operating our water park under the current guidelines," DeLaughter said.

Madison said that the project is currently tracking on budget and added that the only outstanding work on the PCDC's side of the project is signal pole installation and wiring. Those final improvements are expected to be finished by end of June, weather pending, Madison said.
