While some industries have come to a standstill as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, road work continues on I-35 in Round Rock from RM 1431 to FM 3406.

The project, designed to improve safety and mobility on I-35's northbound frontage road, will widen the roadway from two to three lanes. Also included in the project is the relocation of an exit ramp and the addition of an extended exit lane between RM 1431 and FM 3406.

Status: Chandler Creek bridge drill shafts have been completed, as have the subgrade and flex base on I-35's northbound frontage road. Upcoming work includes the widening of the frontage road and road construction work: earthwork, lime treatment, flex base and paving.

Timeline: July 2020-early 2021

Cost: $10.7 million
