Paving overlay improvements
Travis County is adding a paving overlay to roads in the Steiner Ranch area. Improvements will be added to Bowditch Dr from Pearce Rd to cul-de-sac east, Encino Verde from Pearce Rd to dead-end east, Frijolita from Encino Verde, Glenlake Dr from City Park Rd to cul-de-sac west, Golden Gate Park, Manana St from Pearce Rd, Oak Shores to Pearce Rd, Oak Shores from Pearce Rd to Robbins Rd, Patio Circle from Encino Verde to cul-de-sac south, Portobella Dr from Quinlan Park Rd to Portofino Dr, Robbins Rd from Oak Shores to 1049 feet south of Oak Shores, Smokey Ridge from Pearce Rd to cul-de-sac east, Tydings Cove from Pearce Rd to 144 feet south of Pearce Rd.

Timeline: The paving contract start date is anticipated to be later this summer, and the contractor has one year to complete the contract. The contractor sets the schedule for the the actual roadwork.

Cost: Funds are anticipated to become available in May, and then the projects will be advertised for bidding. The actual cost of the project has not been determined at this time, as the project has yet to be sent out for bid.




Why are improvements needed?

• To restore a smooth travel surface for drivers

• To seal the surface to prevent water from damaging the road base

• To add structural strength to the roads

• To extend the lifespan of the roads 10 to 20 years





Ongoing projects







Bee Caves Road expansion
Two projects to add a continuous left-turn lane on Bee Caves Road from Redbud Trail to Walsh Tarlton Lane are underway in the Westlake area. The conversion of the existing four-lane roadway into a five-lane section designed to enhance safety and mobility. Shoulders and sidewalks within the project limits are also being added. Currently, crews are working to complete the last of the utility relocations.

Timeline: November 2016-summer 2019

Cost: $23 million

West Hwy. 71 median, left-turn lane
TxDOT will add a center median and left-turn lane to a 3.8 mile section of West Hwy. 71, from the Blanco County line near Fall Creek Road to Paleface Ranch Road. The project is under development.

Timeline: Nov. 1, 2016-Sept. 28, 2018

Cost: $13 million
