Updated 7:25 p.m. May 15 Official election results show Hutto Mayor Doug Gaul has been reelected to his position. With 588 votes, or 63.5% of the vote, Gaul defeated opponent Nicole Calderone. A total of 926 ballots were cast in the election. Updated 9:22 p.m. With 19 of 21 polling locations reporting, Doug Gaul has secured 63.53% of the vote, or 587 total votes, to be reelected as Mayor of Hutto. “I’m happy with the results," Gaul told Community Impact Newspaper. "I’m happy that the citizens of Hutto have given me another three years to continue the growth and the work we've started.” City Manager Odis Jones said he believes a mayor's race shows the tone and direction of the city. "At the end of the day, the mayor's election is a reflection of the will of the people," Jones said. "Doug is a fantastic leader, and the community recognizes that." There were a total of 547 early votes tallied in the election, with 63.8% of voters, or 349 total, for incumbent Doug Gaul and 36.2%, or 198 total, for Nicole Calderone.
