The Round Rock Express announced that it has notified Minor and Major League Baseball of its intent to reaffiliate after eight years with the Texas Rangers, according to a news release from the club.
"The relationship that we've developed, both professionally and personally, with the Texas Rangers over the last eight years has truly been an honor for our organization," Express President Chris Almendarez said in the release.
The Express has not yet announced with which team the club will realign. The club's Professional Development Contract agreement with the Rangers expires after the 2018 season.
"From all the managers, coaching staffs and players to grace Dell Diamond, to PCL Division titles and World Series appearances, the Rangers have been a first-class parent club throughout and we're very thankful for the longstanding partnership," Express General Manager Tim Jackson said in the release.
In its eight seasons as a Triple-A affiliate of the Rangers, the Express had 43 players move to Major League Baseball directly from Round Rock.
