Progress can be awesome and maddening at the same time. Monthly, we offer information about some of the progress in our area. This month there is a focus on roads, and along with the major projects, some smaller ones cause quite a departure from the normal commuting times locally.
Surface streets are the focus in Round Rock, Pflugerville and Hutto. The inconveniences caused are in the name of progress, according to Pflugerville City Manager Brandon Wade.
The Windermere area in his city has several streets up for reconstruction in the spring. The streets lead to hundreds of houses.
“When it comes to residential streets, it’s very difficult,” Wade said. “This investment is really important for our city, and we are communicating every way we can with our homeowners.”
Videos, mailers, door hangers, emails and the local media are key, Wade said.
The city will have short construction days and work on only one side of a street at a time, he said.
