Hutto was ranked the fifth safest city in Texas by security website SafeWise May 26, following the cities of Murphy, Colleyville, Highland Village and Flower Mound.

SafeWise used the most recent FBI crime data from 2013 to identify the 50 safest Texas cities with a population of at least 10,000, according to the SafeWise report.

Pflugerville was ranked number 30.

According to the security company, Hutto experiences about 8 property crimes per 1,000 residents and .4 violent crimes per 1,000 residents. Hutto was ranked the fourth safest Texas city earlier this year by New York-based research company ValuePenguin.

“Hutto is proud to be named one of the safest cities in Texas," Hutto Police Chief Earl Morrison said. "The Hutto Police Department is dedicated to safety and our outstanding citizens never hesitate to watch out for one another. It’s a combined effort and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.”
