Why are you running for Pflugerville ISD board of trustees?

I care about PfISD and am deeply passionate that opportunities and excellence abound in our fast-growth district. My spirit, energy and vision as a native Pflugervillian remain focused on our students, staff, parents, community partners and taxpayers who together can make a difference.

What are the top issues Pflugerville ISD is currently facing?

Completing 2014 bond projects on time and under budget; attract and retain great educators who are highly competent, ethical and professional; campus boundaries as population shifts in various areas; student achievement in pre-K through 12th grade; monitor budget for effective and efficient use of available resources; uncertainty of state funding; new facilities opening; unfunded state mandates

Why should people vote for you?

Being a conscientious, trusted and devoted community servant leader with a firm belief than an outstanding public education system is vital to a healthy democracy, I humbly seek your vote to continue striving to make education a priority every day on every campus in every classroom for every child. Collaborating with local, county and state officials is essential.

Matt Robertson

Experience: PTO president, homeowners association president, religious education teacher, substitute teacher at Pflugerville ISD, parent of two students currently enrolled in PfISD

Why are you running for Pflugerville ISD board of trustees?

I am running for school board because I believe I can offer a fresh and up-to-date perspective on current and upcoming situations the district may face with the increasing growth of Pflugerville. I want to be a positive force for shaping our children’s education.

What are the top issues Pflugerville ISD is currently facing?

The top issues the district faces today are keeping up with the demands of an increasing population and their need for a quality level of education that is keeping pace with the technologies of today. And a winning season for the Panthers would be nice, too.

Why should people vote for you?

People should vote for me because they want someone who knows how they feel and what they are concerned about. People should vote for me because I am one of them; I am a taxpaying parent in the PfISD district. And when would you ever not vote for yourself?
