Round Rock's $420 million budget is one step closer to final approval.

Round Rock City Council on Aug. 27 voted unanimously to approve the fiscal year 2020-21 budget on first reading. A second and final vote will take place Sept. 10.

Council also approved a $0.0439 property tax rate on first reading Thursday night. The estimated tax impact for the owner of a median valued home is $94 a month in the city portion of the tax bill. The median home value in Round Rock for FY 2021 is $256,347.
