The Round Rock ISD board of trustees voted in August to place a $508.4 million bond proposal on the November ballot. All of the proposed projects were identified by the board as “critical needs” for the district. Some appeared on the voter-defeated May 2017 bond proposal and have since been altered to come with smaller price tags. Safety and security features on the bond proposal include funding for intercoms at school entrances in addition to the secure vestibules that are already in place. The system would require visitors to wait outside before being paged in. The proposal also includes funding to install surveillance cameras and panic buttons for portable buildings as well as the implementation of a student and staff badging system.
