Texas State University opened a new health professions building on its Round Rock campus Thursday as part of the university's effort to relocate its health professions program from San Marcos to Round Rock. "We are excited about the move because it's a lovely building," said Dr. Ruth Welborn, dean of the college of health professions for the university. "It's a state-of-the-art building." Students will start attending classes in the new building, Willow Hall, in June. The 107,708-square-foot building, located at 1555 University Blvd., will house three health professions programs: communication disorders, physical therapy and respiratory care. The facility includes clinical practice laboratories, simulation labs, seminar rooms, a research suite, and space for faculty and administration. The $67.5 million building was funded by tuition revenue bonds, Texas State University system revenue bonds, a contribution from St. David's Foundation and matching funds from the Texas Research Incentive Program. Construction on Willow Hall began in September 2016.
