In a specially called meeting, Round Rock ISD trustees will interview seven candidates Monday night for the vacant Place 6 trustee position, according to district spokesperson Maritza Gallaga.

The meeting will take place at 5 p.m. in the Round Rock High School lecture hall, 201 Deep Wood Drive, Round Rock. Following the interview portion, trustees will meet in closed session to determine if they are ready to make an appointment.

Gallaga said an appointment is not a certainty for Monday night, but should one be made an official oath will be taken, followed by a ceremonial swearing in at the regularly called Thursday night board meeting.

The vacancy on the board was left by Paul Tisch, who resigned in May to move to College Station for a job with the Texas A&M University System. In June, the board of trustees decided they would not wait until November to hold an election, but would rather make an appointment to fill the position in a shorter timeline.
