At the last Round Rock ISD board meeting in June, trustees decided to appoint a replacement for Paul Tisch's vacant trustee seat. The district is now issuing the call for interested RRISD residents to apply for the open position.

Eligible applicants must be a U.S. citizen, be 18 or older, have not been determined to be totally or partially mentally incapacitated by the courts, have not been convicted of a felony, be a resident of Texas for more than a year, be a resident of the school district for six months and be a registered voter.

Those who meet these qualifications can apply online here.

Applications are being accepted through July 26 at 4 p.m. and will be reviewed by the six trustees, who will each recommend a candidate to interview.

Applicants selected for interviews must provide the trustees with his or her name, address, phone number and email address; a copy of a voter registration card; a resume; and statement of the philosophy of board service and commitment as a trustee.

Forums will be held at 6 p.m. July 20 at Round Rock High School, 201 Deep Wood Drive, Round Rock, and at 6 p.m. July 25 at the RRISD Performing Arts Center at McNeil High School, 5800 McNeil Drive, Austin.

The vacant seat's term will expire in November 2018.

Tisch resigned his position in late May to move to College Station for a new job with the Texas A&M University System.
