Why are you running for the Hutto ISD board of trustees?

I have a heart for kids, for people who invest in them and for our community. I want to help make this the best district it can be for all students and help continue cultivating an environment where our employees are supported and encouraged in their various roles.

What are the top issues Hutto ISD is currently facing?

Our top issue is rapid growth and balancing community needs as we grow as we need new facilities, staffing and resources; increasing our awareness and understanding on how to meet the needs of our growing, diverse community; and finally, always keeping what is in the best interest of our students at the center of our decisions.

Why should people vote for you?

I am willing to do what needs to be done for what is in the best interest of Hutto ISD and the Hutto community. Our students deserve it, our staff wants it and our community will be better for it. I believe everyone has something valuable to contribute to our community.

Why are you running for the Hutto ISD board of trustees?

I have long been committed to serving my community. I think there is an opportunity for me to bring my experience as a parent, community member and educator to support our schools.

What are the top issues Hutto ISD is currently facing?

I think appropriately planning for the continued growth of our district is paramount. We also need to look at continuing to grow our vocational and tech-related courses for students who decide not to pursue a college degree.

Why should people vote for you?

I am passionate about quality and equitable public education for all students. I realize that a strong foundation starts with a solid education, and that will be my guiding post when determining what is best for children.

Why are you running for the Hutto ISD board of trustees?

Our two oldest children graduated from Hutto High School and were blessed with a solid education. I have three additional children still in Hutto schools. I am deeply invested in ensuring that our schools are the best they can be for my children and for all families in Hutto.

What are the top issues Hutto ISD is currently facing?

Hutto is currently the third fastest-growing city in Texas. We need realistic and achievable plans to stay ahead of that growth. We also need to work with the City Council to get more business to invest in our community, enabling continued school growth and stability.

Why should people vote for you?

School quality is a major factor for most families looking for a place to settle, as it was for my family 15 years ago. I am committed to ensuring that our schools are the best they can be. I believe that strong schools are foundational for a solid community.

Why are you running for the Hutto ISD board of trustees?

The board needs to be a cross-section of independent and committed individuals without vested interests or preconceived notions. The members must be collaborative, responsible and focused on the needs of all the community, not just parents or professional educators.

What are the top issues Hutto ISD is currently facing?

First, more effectively provide our students with the best possible education, be it to align them for college or skilled trades. That means getting the most for your tax dollars, with success measures that guide our response to changing needs.

Why should people vote for you?

I am a fiscal conservative who believes we need more accountability in our elected officials. HISD needs to balance the push to college with the need to provide pathways for our students into vocational pursuits. I will represent all of our citizens: parents, students, teachers, businesses and future residents. My career experience and my love for this community will guide me in this role.

Why are you running for the Hutto ISD board of trustees?

As Hutto ISD continues to grow, we have an opportunity to improve student success in all areas, such as academics, special education, technology and vocational. My motivation for running for school board is because I have seen the good things that the district has done to help our students succeed.

What are the top issues Hutto ISD is currently facing?

The continued growth of our district and how to best stay ahead of that growth. I would like to see increased participation in our pre-K program and our dual-credit program. I am also concerned about the impact of standardized testing and how it has taken away from teachers being able to teach.

Why should people vote for you?

I have lived in Hutto for 16 years, and in that time I have seen this small-time town grow into a place I’m proud to call home. I will always put the children first in all my decisions. I promise to work hard to earn your trust, to always have an open mind and to listen. In Hutto we are doing some amazing things with a diverse group of kids, and I would be honored to have your vote.
