Drivers should anticipate closures in alternating directions on I-35 at the Old Settlers Blvd. bridge on Friday and Saturday nights, March 9 and 10, according to a release from the Texas Department of Transportation.

The closures will allow crews and cranes to lift and place large beams for the new bridge. Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, the north and southbound frontage roads will be reduced to one lane at the Old Settlers Blvd. bridge and Old Settlers Blvd./FM 3406 will fully close at I-35. At 10 p.m., northbound I-35 will fully close and southbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane between RM 1431 and Hesters Crossing. TxDOT advises northbound drivers to detour to the frontage road at exit 254. All roadways will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 10.

At 8 p.m. Saturday, March 10, the north and southbound I-35 frontage roads will be reduced to one lane at Old Settlers Blvd., which will fully close at I-35. At 10 p.m., southbound I-35 will fully close and the northbound I-35 left lane will close between RM 1431 and Hesters Crossing. TxDOT recommends that drivers who need to cross I-35 at Old Settlers Blvd./FM 3406 should use Hwy. 79 or RM 1431.
