At the Thursday night Pflugerville ISD board meeting, trustees unanimously approved a 2.5 percent increase to district teachers.
The starting wage for a PfISD teacher, which is now set at $45,000, would be increased to $46,000.
Kenneth Adix, CFO of PfISD said just three to four years ago, the district's starting pay for teachers ranked 11 out of the 12 surrounding districts.
He said now, with a $45,000 starting pay, PfISD ranks fourth.
"We went from around the bottom to above the midpoint to currently position ourselves well for the remaining, existing teachers," Adix said.
The total cost of these salary increases is $4.6 million.
The board also approved an additional 38.5 positions for the district, with 30.5 of those being campus related, with the majority being teaching positions, Adix said. The remaining eight are non-campus positions including a safety technician and accountant assistant.
The total price tag of these personnel additions is $2,077,000.
