PS 35, a collaboration between Executive Chef Clint Elmore and SMGB Hospitality Co., opened the doors of its New York-style pizzeria to the public May 30.

The Round Rock restaurant features hand-tossed, thin-crust pizza; hot and cold sandwiches on baked bread; family-style Italian dishes; soft-service ice cream; and craft beer and cocktails.

Classic video games are part of the family-friendly atmosphere. An outdoor pavilion includes live music and yard games.

To start, the restaurant will be open for dinner hours only. PS 35 seats 170, and the building was renovated to highlight the industrial style of the 1970s-era structure. The design includes elements of iconic New York City public spaces, including subway tile, cement flooring, blackboards and a subway platform in the middle of the dining room. The restaurant is looking to bring street artists and muralists in to help create the decor features for the space.

“In New York City, public schools are referred to by a PS number, and since our pies and design are totally a tribute to that city, we took the naming convention and incorporated the 35 from our location off the interstate,” Christian Romero of SMGB said. “We can’t wait to share chef Elmore’s dishes with Round Rock and for guests to come experience the food, music and fun at PS 35.”
