A development known as Diamond Oaks will bring rooftops, restaurants, retail space and a hotel to the area near Round Rock's Kalahari Resorts & Conventions on Hwy. 79.

The 29.68-acre development, currently under construction east of Hat Creek Burger Co., will include a single-family subdivision, restaurant and commercial space, and a La Quinta hotel.

Scott Carr, president of Carr Developments, said the 13,545-square-foot retail portion of the development broke ground on Jan. 29 and will include a Jersey Mike's restaurant, a Tony C's restaurant and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf coffee shop. The commercial portion still has roughly 4,600 square feet of space available and is expected to be completed the fourth quarter of 2019, according to Carr.

The residential portion will include 120 homes, according to the development's website.

Wiseman said the La Quinta hotel is expected to be completed by early 2020.

The development is located on the opposite side of Hwy. 79 from Kalahari Resorts & Conventions, which is currently under construction.
