At the first public hearing for the city's 2018-19 fiscal year tax rate, Pflugerville city staff presented a potential property tax rate of $0.4976 per $100 valuation.

That rate represents a reduction of more than 4 cents from last year's adopted tax rate of $0.5399 per $100 valuation.

The median home value in Pflugerville in July sat at $266,500, according to data from the Austin Board of Realtors, or ABoR. With this adopted tax rate, that household would pay $1,326.10 in property taxes without any exemptions.

Pflugerville's proposed FY 2018-19 tax rate is about 1 cent higher than the effective tax rate of $0.487, meaning the city will still generate more ad valorem tax revenue in 2018.

According to ABoR figures, the July 2018 median home price in Pflugerville grew more than 9 percent year-over-year, up from $242,515. That house in 2017 would have payed $1,309.34 in property taxes to the city of Pflugerville without any exemptions.

Pflugerville City Council will vote on the FY 2018-19 budget and tax rate Sept. 25, with a second public hearing scheduled for the tax rate Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. at the City Council chambers.
