With 2,326 votes, or 60.67 percent, Matt Baker won the May 5 election for Round Rock City Council, Place 3.

"It was a big victory and I respect the voters responded to our message. I approached this candidacy like a job interview," Baker said Saturday night. "When you get out and talk to a lot of the voters you hear issues that matter to them. I’m excited to bring up some of the issues they talked about. One thing I heard about a lot was property taxes, that’s something we’re all dealing with right now."

Baker was challenged by Cam Scott, who brought in 1,508 votes, or 39.33 percent.

Baker will replace Frank Leffingwell, who did seek for re-election.
