Ambulance additions to Williamson County EMS Department
The commissioners court approved to authorize the purchasing of five new ambulances to support the operations of the Williamson County EMS Department for $1,179,175.
Funding for the ambulances will come from the county’s approved 2018 budget.
Burn ban in effect for Williamson County
A
burn ban for the areas west and east of Interstate Highway 35 is in effect for a period not to exceed 90 days until conditions improve.
In response to recent wildfires, the Williamson County Fire Chief's Association requested the county burn ban. Additionally, recent storm fronts have brought high winds and lower humidity creating the chance for more wildfires, according to the Williamson County Fire Chief's Association.
Governor Greg Abbott also issued a
disaster declaration April 13 in response to drought conditions across Texas Friday, which included Williamson County.
Commissioners Court appoints John Moman as Texas Housing Foundation Board commissioner
John Moman will serve as a commissioner for the Texas Housing Foundation Board of Commissioners to represent Williamson County on the Texas Housing Foundation Board from May 1, 2018 to June 30, 2020.
A recent
project with the Texas Housing Foundation looks at the need for a regional housing authority that would include Williamson County due to a shortage of affordable housing in Williamson County available to low-income persons.
Moman is an architect with his own firm, Moman Design, in Round Rock. Since moving to Williamson County in 1984, he has served on numerous local and regional committees, boards and commissions.
Williamson County seeks contractors for Southwest Bypass construction
Williamson County is seeking qualified contractors to widen the existing roadway in Georgetown for an estimated cost not exceeding $10,840,000.
The Southwest Bypass Segment 2 project's work will also include grading, drainage improvements, flexible base, HMAC, striping and signing. Funded by road bonds, the project is estimated to take about 450 days to complete, according to Williamson County.
All bids must be submitted to Williamson County by May 9.
