Hutto Economic Development Corp. members and Hutto Chamber of Commerce and City Council officials held preliminary discussions toward the end of 2017 to plan strategic coordination moving forward. A potential merger was discussed at both the Hutto EDC meeting Nov. 13 and the Hutto City Council meeting Nov. 16.

The chamber and EDC met Dec. 4 for the first round of merger discussions to determine planning to advance the city’s economic agenda.

What’s next

Hutto Mayor Doug Gaul said at the Nov. 16 City Council meeting that many of the logistics of any partnership will have to be ironed out in the next “three to four months.” HEDC Chairman Bill Gravell Jr. has stated that the chamber would remain a private organization under any partnership deal.
