Wednesday marks the start of the voting period for Place 6 on Round Rock City Council. The seat, vacated by long-serving former Council Member Kris Whitfield, has been open since Oct. 6. Three candidates have since filed for Whitfield's former seat: Hollis Bone, Hilda Montgomery and John Montgomery.

Bone and Hilda Montgomery are two former candidates for seats on the Round Rock dais with Bone running unsuccessfully against Tammy Young in May for Place 1 and Hilda Montgomery running unsuccessfully against Craig Morgan for mayor in the same election.

Polls will be open Nov. 29-30 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; Dec. 1-2 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.; Dec. 4-8 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; Dec. 9 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Dec. 11-12 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.. Early voting is available at the Baca Senior Center, Jester Annex and the Williamson County Elections Office.

The Baca Center and Jester Annex will also be open from 7 a.m.-7 pm. on Dec. 16, which is election day.

The last special election held for a Round Rock City Council seat garnered turnout from just 1.68 percent of registered voters. The election resulted in Frank Leffingwell winning his seat with 776 votes in his favor, even though more than 56,000 voters were registered and eligible to vote at the time.
