Round Rock City Council unanimously agreed on a contractor to carry out planned renovations at the Forest Creek Golf Club during its meeting Thursday night.

The City Council approved an agreement with Mid-America Golf and Landscape Inc. for the renovation of golf course features, irrigation renovation and bridge repair at the golf course.

The council also authorized the city manager to issue a purchase order with Professional Turf Products LP for irrigation materials as part of the project.

The combined total for the four items is about $3.9 million.

Round Rock Mayor Craig Morgan said the funds being used for the renovations are from city savings.

The city hired KemperSports Inc. this year to take over management of the fairways and facilities. The partnership has already brought changes to the golf club, with more expected as renovations begin.

Forest Creek will remain open through November but will be reduced to nine holes beginning in December. The full course and driving range will close in January and is expected to reopen Aug. 1, 2018.
