TxDOT to close bridge at I-35 and FM 3406 for 10 months starting Friday

Several lane closures are scheduled in Cy-Fair this week.

On Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation will close the bridge at FM 3406 or Old Settlers Boulevard and I-35 for the next 10 months, over the duration of its widening and reconstruction project.

TxDOT is rerouting drivers both westbound and eastbound as a result. Westbound drivers will detour to the newly constructed FM 3406 U-turn bridge to cross over I-35. Eastbound drivers will be detoured to the southbound feeder road and use the U-turn at US 79.

Over the next 10 months, construction will also require overnight lane closures on I-35 to set the beams and pour concrete. Road signs will be placed to alert drivers on a weekly basis. TxDOT is asking drivers to remain patient and allow for extra travel time.

When the bridge reopens at the end of summer 2018, most of the bridge work will likely be complete. The project will result in a bridge with two lanes in each direction in addition to left- and right-turn lanes to the I-35 feeder road from FM 3406.
