Capital Metro offers half-price fares for Round Rock seniors age 65 and older, Medicare cardholders and riders with disabilities through a reduced fare ID card. Students ages 6 to 18 and military personnel not in uniform can also receive reduced rates with a valid school or military ID. The city of Round Rock, which is home to a new Capital Metro fixed-route bus system, is hosting an enrollment event Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. Those who qualify for half-price fares must bring a valid government-issued photo ID, $3 in cash or payment through a credit card and a completed RFID application. Following the event, Capital Metro staff will take three days to process applications and will mail ID cards to applicants. The card is valid for two years and then must be renewed. If lost, cards can be replaced for $3 for the first two replacement cards and $6 for the third replacement. The enrollment event will take place at Round Rock's Transit Center at 300 W. Bagdad Ave., Round Rock.
